JANUARY 09, 2012
Sales of High Hopes® during our holiday “double the love” promotion (7% from every sale to the Foundation) has made it possible for the Foundation to provide 4 more $500 grants to shelter and rescue groups. The High Hopes® for Pets Foundation is delighted to provide year-end grants to:
Placing Paws of Illinois
Young at Heart Pet Rescue
Circle Tail
The Greyhound Alliance
Below is more detail about the exceptional work these organizations do. Please read this and spread the word to your pet-loving friends. The Foundation will be awarding more grants in April, so be sure to let deserving animal care organizations know the deadline for application will be March 15,2012.
Placing Paws
PO Box 121, Libertyville, IL 60048-0121 | placingpawsrescue.org
Placing Paws is a non for profit animal rescue organization located in Libertyville IL. They are an all volunteer organization dedicated to finding loving homes for rescued companion animals and promoting educational efforts in the community on the wellbeing of animals.
Since 2008, they have rescued over 630 companion animals and found them new loving forever homes.
Young at Heart
PO Box 1293, Palatine, IL 60078 | yahpetrescue.com
In 2005, a small group of animal lovers formed Young at Heart Pet Rescue dedicated to aiding older dogs and pets in Illinois animal shelters.
Young at Heart Pet Rescue utilizes a small network of foster homes and donated adoption spaces for cats to rescue and re-home pets over the age of 5 years from open-admission animal shelters.
Whatever a senior pet needs to make it as adoptable as possible is done. Since its founding, over 400 senior pets, with an average age of 9.5 years old, have found their happily ever after thanks to Young at Heart.
See video of Young at Heart’s rescue collaboration in 2011 here.
Circle Tail
8834 Carey Lane, Pleasant Plain, OH 45162 | circletail.org
Circle Tail is a small non-profit organization which provides service and hearing dogs to people with disabilities. The dogs and their training are provided at no cost to the individual.
Circle Tail also operates a limited admission rescue shelter, with responsible spay/neuter practices, for unwanted and abandoned dogs and puppies.
In addition, they work to strengthen and promote the human‐canine bond in the community by providing obedience training classes, behavior management sessions, educational programs and boarding and grooming services to the general public.
Circle Tail also provides an Inmate/Canine Educational Training Program at three Ohio correctional facilities. The dogs are housed at the prisons while they are in training to be service dogs or waiting to be adopted. The inmates are trained by Circle Tail instructors to meet all of the dogs’ basic needs, and to instruct them in manners and obedience.
The Greyhound Alliance
P.O. Box 5803, River Forest, Il 60305-5803 | greyhoundalliance.org
The Greyhound Alliance is a small, all-volunteer organization, whose number one priority is greyhound welfare by focusing on educating owners, potential adopters and the general public.
After Dairyland closed, the Alliance started bringing retired racers from Florida and Alabama to adoption groups in the Midwest. To bring even more greyhounds to the area, they established The Sunburst Kennel, based in Ebro, Florida, which serves as a staging point to provide veterinary care for retired greyhounds including physical exams, spay/neuter procedures, vaccinations and preparation for transport.
The Greyhound Alliance has sent many greyhounds to their forever homes.
We’re so inspired by the work that these organizations do, and are certain that the grants will be well used to help them accomplish their objectives.
The High Hopes® for Pets Foundation is a separate and independent not-for-profit entity. The High Hopes® brand donates at least 3.5% from every sale of High Hopes®’ healthy, all-natural dog treat products (up to 15% of the company’s profits) to the Foundation. During the recent months of November and December, High Hopes® “doubled the love” and this donation was raised to 7%.
Happy tails to all!
