Total 85 Grants Awarded by High Hopes for Pets Foundation!
This year, the West Coast suffered a horrific and historic fire season. In September, CNN reported nearly 90 large wildfires scorching millions of acres and killing almost 3 dozen people. As of Election day, 4,100 firefighters continue to battle 22 active wildfires in just California.
The organizations that help in these natural disasters also faced huge challenges in trying to meet the overwhelming needs of all the displaced people and animals. For this reason, in October, the High Hopes for Pets Foundation awarded four animal welfare organizations in California and Oregon with monetary grants.
Who is the High Hopes for Pets Foundation?
The High Hopes for Pets Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit organization located in Chicago. The Foundation receives its funding from:
- The sale of High Hopes™ all-natural dog treats and food. Every day, High Hopes™ donates 3.5% from every sale (up to 15% of the company’s profits) to the Foundation; and
- Direct donations to the Foundation from pet lovers around the country
Since September 2011, the Foundation has awarded a total of 85 grants to deserving rescue and shelter organizations throughout the United States.
October Grants Recipients
Four organizations below received grants from the Foundation in October, including:
- Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center, Winchester, Oregon
- Three Rivers Humane Society, Madras, Oregon
- Cooper’s Dream, San Rafael, California
- Siskiyou Spay Neuter Incentive Program, Yreka, California
Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center
Mission: To champion, promote and protect the human-animal bond through responsible pet ownership.
In 2001, Saving Grace was organized by a group of passionate people who knew the animals of Douglas County needed and deserved better care. Since then, Saving Grace has saved the lives of 30,600 animals.
With the Foundation’s grant, Saving Grace was able to provide temporary shelter for 55 evacuated pets and save 44 cats from a property that burned in the Archie Creek fire. To learn more, donate, adopt or volunteer, visit them at www.savinggrace.info.
Mission: Shelter animals deserve the best care possible.
One of their primary efforts includes outreach to the nearby Warm Springs Indian Reservation where tribal residents often find themselves overwhelmed with puppies. Recently, this led to an influx of 103 puppies.
The Foundation’s grant will be used to help spay/neuter 20 puppies, and better yet, prevent an estimated 120-160 more in the future. For more info, visit www.threerivershs.org.
Mission: To end the euthanasia of adoptable dogs in the United States through increased public awareness, legal actions and rescuing dogs scheduled for euthanasia.
Providing volunteer-only foster homes to rescued dogs from California’s shelters and placing them in new, permanent homes throughout the Bay Area. To get involved, visit them at www.coppersdream.org.
Siskiyou Spay Neuter Incentive Program
Mission: Help end dog and cat overpopulation in Siskiyou County through education, support, and need-based financial assistance to pet owners.
The Siskiyou Spay Neuter Program (SNIP) is a non-profit, volunteer-only organizationformed in 2002.
Since then, SNIP has given out over $660,000+ in spay and neuter coupons and has helped facilitate the spay and neuter of over 25,000 pets in Siskiyou County. To learn more, visit www.siskiyousnip.org.
